As with laser sintering, no additional support structures are required as the protrusions are carried by loose powder. As a result, the designer no longer has any design constraints and can focus entirely on the functionality of the parts. Significant weight savings can also be achieved for serial parts. Depending on the application, this process is more economical than conventional production types of up to 5000 parts, regardless of the design advantages.
