SHIELD F- Scophthalmidae L- Scophthalmus maximus I- Turbot M- Table fish Morphological Features: Y.F.= Body round, eyes located on the left side of the body. The dorsal fin begins in front of the eyes, the skin is scaleless, covered with small bony bumps. The upper side of the body is brownish with black and white spots. The underside of the body is white. Bottom fish, males have fewer bony nodules, females have more. They live 25-30 years. Hatching larvae reach 7-10 cm in the fall and 15 cm a year later.
