CORRECTIVE OSTEOTOMY

When bones are misaligned, a corrective osteotomy surgery may be required. High technical requirements (correction of different angles in different planes), complex bone geometry, limited field of view and limited working space can result in a difficult surgery. A patient-specific cutting guide is a bespoke tool that helps the surgeon cut a bone. Combined with a preoperative planning, the guide(s) transfer this planning to the operating room, providing an accurate and time-saving osteotomy correction. A fixator guide may also be provided to ensure correct final position and alignment of the resected bones. Both opening and closing wedge osteotomies and synostosis are possible with this technique.
