Many insects cause direct and in direct damage to plants.Direct damage ranges from sucking liquid from the plants to marks on the leaves.Much more serious indirect damage is determined by the fact that some insects are carriers of viruses and this causes a reduction of production, fruit malformation and withering of the plant until it dies. The insects most frequently affecting plants (especially the tomato) are Trialeurodes vaporariorum better known as the “white fly” which transmits generic viruses
